With boat trips through winding canals, exploration of hidden islands and visits to a diverse range of villages and craft shops this four-day journey takes you beyond the tourist stops and shows you the real Delta.
Departing from Ho Chi Minh City, your Vientam tour begins with a two-hour drive to Cai Be. With its residents living half on the water and half on the land, this town is the perfect introduction to the riches of the Delta. A boat trip through winding canals takes you past a teeming floating market to a hidden island where unique local industries, such as the making of coconut candies,are created.
Continue southwards with a drive to Can Tho, the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. An early morning wake-up call rewards you with a visit to the lively morning floating market at Cai Rang. Exploring the colorful market is a highlight of any Vietnam tour. Your boat will meander its way through the throngs of vendors whose wares are displayed on tall poles so that they can be seen above the crowds.
The next stop is Long Thanh, a small hamlet known for its basket weaving. Not only will you have the opportunity to witness the deft craftsmenship of the weavers but also have a chance to meet some of the intriguing local characters.
Chau Doc is your final stop on this Vietnam tour. Nestled at the confluence of the Mekong and Basaac Rivers, this vibrant town is a melting pot of culturse due to its location near the Cambodian border. A full day exploration takes you to weaving villages, Cham minority villages and floating fish farms before relaxing atop Sam Mountain to watch the sun set- a fitting conclusion to this magical Vietnam tour.

DAY 1: HO CHI MINH CITY – CAI BE – CAN THO (L)
This morning set off on your journey by road, leaving the cityscapes of Ho Chi Minh behind as you make your way to the Mekong Delta. Your first stop is Cai Be where a boat ride through the floating market is the perfect introduction to this colorful region. Tour the area’s cottage industries and cruise on to a small, scenic island before returning to land for the drive to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho
DAY 2: CAN THO – CHAU DOC (B)
An early morning wake up will be rewarded with a boat cruise through Cai Rang floating market. After exploring the maze of vendors, return to Can Tho for lunch followed by a drive to Chau Doc. Stop en route in Long Thanh, a small town whose handcrafted baskets are famous in the delta for their intricate craftsmanship. Overnight in Chau Doc.
DAY 3: CHAU DOC (B)
Spend today exploring Chau Doc and its surroundings. Embark on a boat trip to a unique village inhabited by the Cham people and discover their fantastic silk weaving skills. a boat to Chau Giang District where a tiny mosque serves the local Cham community. Continue to a Khmer Temple, floating fish farms and on to Sam Mountain in time to catch the sun set over the countryside. Overnight in Chau Doc.
DAY 4: CHAU DOC – HO CHI MINH CITY (B)
After your breakfast at the hotel, your car will pick you up for the 8-hour drive back to Ho Chi Minh City where you will arrive mid-afternoon. Or, should you wish, there is an option to cross into Cambodia by boat from Chau Doc- please contact us for more information on this routing.
